Place: Pho 20, Chinatown 10th and Vine (right on the corner)
Pho 20 is a new to the game for Pho spots in Chinatown. The service was great. I went on a Friday night around 8:30ish PM.
The broth was VERY good. It had the right layers of spices, seasonings, and fat. It was aromatic and the flavor was ALMOST as good as my mom's pho but... definitely not. You could taste the spices throughout each sip. It tasted as though this broth had been simmering all day with beef bones. Top notch!
The meat quality was very good. The steak was thin and cooked nicely with the temperature of the broth. The tripe was tripe, nothing good or bad about it. The tendon was AWFUL. Most of the time tendon is soft but their tendon was hard and I could not bite into it. The brisket had very little fat on it but was flavorful and added depth to the overall dish. The meatballs were your standard bo vien. You could tell they were not home made and they were the frozen kind. It wasn't the highest quality, but it did not taste bad.
The vegetables were fresh, you were given enough bean sprouts and basil. Plenty of lime and jalapenos too.
The noodles were slightly overdone but I believe it's because of the broth coming out piping hot.
The Pho looked very good, it had a nice sheen of fat and looked very nice from the onions, green onions, and cilantro. It was presented beautifully.
It was very affordable the Dac Biet was about 7.50.
I would definitely recommend this place based on their pho. I didn't try any of their other food but the quality of the pho is outstanding. It's new to the game, and it's doing big things with their deliciousness! If you haven't tried it. You got to!
